In a feature new to ver 1.13, you can manually transfer RPs between ports that can trace a land route connection.
There is a cost in transferring RPs this way. The cost is related to the length of the route, and it is deducted immediately when you confirm you wish to proceed with a transfer.
You can make as many RP transfers as you wish. And you can return to this dialog at any time during a turn.
Manually transferring RPs is a way to ensure that your RPs are located where they are most needed. For example, one of your ports may be low on RPs, perhaps even in prospective deficit given the need to supply troops stationed there. Or a port where you wish to lay down new ships does not have adequate RPs to build what you need.
From your Admiral's Office, go to the Deploy Menu on the blackboard:
Now, select 'Transfer RPs' and click.
You should now see this dialog:
To close the dialog at any time, click the 'X' button. This returns you to your Admiral's Office.
The dialog has two lists of ALL of your ports, and alongside each, the current number of RPs is shown.
Make a selection in the 'From' and the 'To' list.
Then, enter the number to be transferred, and click the 'Start Transfer' button.
The computer will now find the shortest valid land route between the two ports.
Note that this is a dynamic calculation. Enemy troops can sometimes block a route.
If no route can be found, an error message will show:
If you have forgotten to enter a value for the number of RPs to transfer, or the number is more than the RPs available, you will also get an error:
If the from and to ports are the same, you will see this error:
If a transfer is valid, the cost of transferring will be shown. The cost is related to the length of the route and the amount of RPs to be transferred.
The cost represents the resource cost of diverting and using transport vehicles (truck or rail) to shift the materials represented by the RPs.
Here is an example cost, for moving 50 RPs from Naples to Venice:
If the cost is too high, or you change your mind for other reasons, click the 'Cancel' button. The selection of ports will be cleared, and the amount to be transferred will be reset to zero. The transfer will not proceed and you will have incurred no cost.
Clicking the 'Finish Transfer' button will authorise the transfer. The RPs will be immediately transferred and the cost will be immediately deducted from the 'from' port.
This action can not be undone, except by transferring the RPs back - which will cost more RPs. So make sure you want to make the transfer before authorising it.
